Nature and Culture in One Journey

This Fairy Meadows and Hunza tour brings together two very different sides of Gilgit-Baltistan. First, the wild beauty of Fairy Meadows, a pine-fringed alpine meadow facing Nanga Parbat (8,126m), where nights are silent and the Milky Way shines above your cottage.

Then the living culture of Hunza Valley: the ancient Baltit and Altit Forts, the turquoise Attabad Lake, the famous Hussaini Suspension Bridge, the Passu Cones and the Khunjerab Pass on the China border.

This 8-day tour is ideal for couples, families and friends who want adventure and comfort in the same trip. The best time is midsummer, from June to September, when the Babusar Pass and Fairy Meadows trail are both open.

Day-by-Day Plan

Fairy Meadows & Hunza Tour Itinerary

An 8-day summer route with private transport, a local guide and time to enjoy every stop.

Day 1

Islamabad to Chilas via Babusar Pass

We drive through the Kaghan Valley with a short stop in Naran bazaar, then cross the Babusar Pass to Chilas, around 11 to 12 hours. Overnight in Chilas.

Day 2

Chilas to Fairy Meadows

Drive to Raikot Bridge, take a local jeep to Tato village, then walk around 3 to 4 hours to Fairy Meadows. Overnight in Fairy Meadows.

Day 3

Exploring Fairy Meadows and Beyal Camp

Walk with a local guide to Beyal Camp for close views of Nanga Parbat and its glacier, then return for a relaxing evening in the meadows. Overnight in Fairy Meadows.

Day 4

Fairy Meadows to Hunza

Hike and jeep back to Raikot Bridge (around 5 hours), then drive 4 to 5 hours to Hunza Valley. Overnight in Hunza.

Day 5

Attabad Lake and Khunjerab Pass

Visit Attabad Lake, the Hussaini Suspension Bridge and the Passu Cones, then continue through Sost to the Khunjerab Pass on the Pakistan-China border. Overnight in Hunza.

Day 6

Baltit Fort, Altit Fort and Minapin

Explore Baltit Fort and Altit Fort in Karimabad, then drive to Minapin in Nagar Valley, at the foot of Rakaposhi. Overnight in Minapin.

Day 7

Minapin to Naran

Drive back over the Babusar Pass to Naran in the Kaghan Valley, around 6 to 7 hours. Overnight in Naran.

Day 8

Naran to Islamabad

Our last day. A scenic drive back to Islamabad, arriving by evening. End of the tour.

How fit do I need to be for Fairy Meadows?

You should be comfortable walking 3 to 4 hours uphill at a steady pace. The trail is well used and not technical. Horses are available if needed.

Why is this tour only in summer?

The Babusar Pass and the jeep road to Fairy Meadows are usually open only from June to September. Outside these months we recommend our Hunza or Skardu tours instead.

What should I pack?

Comfortable walking shoes, warm layers and a jacket for cold nights, sun protection, a torch and any personal medicines.

Can this tour be extended to Skardu?
